Maison & Objet is an important event within the international industry of Interior Design and Decor that takes place at Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center. The novelties of the expo soon become the musts of the season and the latest Deco trends. According to the most recent edition, last January, what’s hot in interior design this year is:

Well Crew, more pictures of Brazil and my favorite state: Rio Grande do Sul or “A Terra Gaucha”, the Guacha Land in the south. Our final destination was the Hotel Spa Fonte Ijuí, which’s coming tomorrow, but the journey itself deserves special recognition ‘cause it’s gorgeous! Check this out:

In our side (Corrientes) is mostly cattle breeding, some rice, tea and a small growing forest industry. Right in front… there’s all that and more… (so much more)

Sé que a algunos compatriotas no les va a gustar leer esto, pero no es nada más que la verdad: al minuto de llegar a Brasil uno se da cuenta que ese si es un país serio, rico y poderoso. De nuestro lado (Corrientes) es todo cría de ganado, algo de arroz, té y una pequeña industria de forestación en crecimiento. Justo enfrente… está todo eso y más… (mucho más)

Yeap, the Queen of all oilseeds that pays U$S 600 per ton. Almost equal landscape, same weather conditions and what are we waiting to start migrating plantations to this uber profitable seed? The government to enact legislation promoting the activity in our region? This kind of things (among others) make you feel a punch on the stomach. Anyway, I’m not in the mood for political confrontations. Let’s go on with the trip.

Sip, la Reina de todas las oleaginosas que paga U$S 600 la tonelada. Geografía casi igual, mismas condiciones climáticas y qué estamos esperando para comenzar a migrar todas las plantaciones hacia esta semilla ultra rentable? Al gobierno para que sancione legislación promotora de la actividad en nuestra región? Este tipo de cosas (entre otras) hace que uno sienta un puñetazo en el estómago. Ya, no tengo ganas de avivar confrontaciones políticas. Mejor seguimos con el viaje.

{Road Trip: Rota das Missoes}

The region I’m from was founded by Jesuits of The Society of Jesus who arrived to these lands in 1600. All of us who live in the Northeast of Argentina, Southeast of Paraguay and southwest of Brazil share an immense proud of our cultural and religious heritage and honor our land as the “Jesuit Republic”.

La región en la que nací fue fundada por Jesuitas de la Compañía de Jesus que arrivaron a estas tierras en 1600. Todos los que vivimos en el Noreste de Argentina, Sudeste de Paraguay y Sudoeste de Brasil sentimos un inmenso orgullo por nuestra herencia cultural y religiosa y honramos nuestra tierra como la “República Jesuita”.

Being personal, my passion for archeological sites begun visiting numerous Jesuit’s ruins when I was a kid. I wanted to share with you this trip to Sao Miguel das Missoes, one of the best preserved Jesuit Settlements. Hope you’ll enjoy it and somehow feel the magic of “Ñande Retá” (our land), where a blessed mysticism remains and the breeze still echoes ancient songs in Guaraní.

A modo personal, mi pasión por los sitios arqueológicos comenzó visitando numerosas ruinas jesuíticas de niña. Quería compartir con ustedes este viaje a San Miguel de las Misiones, una de las reducciones jesuíticas mejor conservadas. Espero que lo disfruten y de algún modo lleguen a sentir la magia de “Ñande Retá” (nuestra tierra), donde perdura un misticismo beato y la briza todavía hace eco de antiguas melodías en Guaraní.

I’ve always felt fascination with Colonial Baroque. When I was living in México, one of the greatest pleasures I had was watching the peak of development of this style, which took place there after the conquer. In our land, Colonial Baroque manifested itself through the mastery of wood carving and clay molding.

Siempre me sentí fascinada por el Barroco Colonial. Mientras vivía en México, uno de los placeres más grandes que tuve fue ver el pico de desarrollo de dicho estilo, el cual tuyo lugar allí luego de la conquista. En nuestra tierra, el Barroco Colonial se manifestó a travéz de la maestría en el tallado de madera y el modelado en barro.

The Jesuit’s contribution to Guaraní People was enormous; they instructed them in architecture, fine arts, music and helped them settling a remarkable political and economical system’s management. As a matter of fact, that was the main cause that motivated suspicion by the Spanish Crown of the Order’s activities in American lands and ended with their expulsion of this territory in 1767. Many peaces were lost or even destroyed after the Jesuits departure, but the ones that remained help us to appreciate their way of life and the exceptional talent for artistic expression developed by the Guaraníes that lived with them.

La contribución Jesuita al Pueblo Guaraní fue enorme; los instruyeron en arquitectura, bellas artes, música y los ayudaron a establecer un sistema de administración política y económica destacado. De hecho,esa fue la causa principal que motivó las sospechas por parte de la Corona Española sobre las actividades de la Orden en suelo Americanoy que concluyó con su expulsión de este territorio en 1767. Muchas piezas se perdieron o inclusive fueron destruídas luego de la partida de los Jesuitas, pero las que se conservaron nos ayudan a apreciar su modo de vida y el talento excepcional para la expresión artística que tenían los Guaraníes que vivían con ellos.

Do you notice the resemblance with Gothic English Abbeys? We could speak for hours about this! But I’ll just say that walking through the the main aisle of the church made me felt like Morgan of Avalon lost in Glastonbury. (Hehe… yes, there is some pagan-heretic connotation…)

Notan el parecido con las Abadías Inglesas Góticas? Podríamos hablar horas sobre esto! Pero me voy a limitar a decir que caminar por el pasillo de la nave principal de la iglesia me hizo sentir como Morgana de Avalon perdida en Glastonbury. (Hehe… si, hay una connotación herético-pagana…)

And here we see the ghost of a Guaraní Sorceress (that likes to wear contemporary costumes for her appearances) who never wanted to embrace the Jesuit’s faith but was mesmerized by all those trends brought from the old continent. Note: Jesuits never burned pagans and were actually the coolest Order arrived from Rome.

Y aquí vemos al fantasma de una Hechicera Guaraní (quien gusta lucir vestuario contemporáneo para sus apariciones) que nunca quizo abrazar la fe de los Jesuitas pero que estaba deslumbrada con todas esas tendencias traídas del viejo continente. Nota: los Jesuitas nunca quemaron a los paganos y de hecho fueron la Orden más cool que vino de Roma.

Not a particular Mr. Guy today but instead… a masculine minimalist Beverly Hills home I fell in love with. Hahaha… you know, I think I should worry if I’m starting to prefer gorgeous chic homes over gorgeous chic guys. Well… I haven’t seen one around here in Santo Tomé and that makes me seriously question my current location choice. Of course I love Design & Decor and stuff; the point is …if that could become some kind of “sublimation strategy” or something. No hay un Mr. Guy en particular hoy pero en cambio… una casa minimalista y masculina en Beverly Hills de la que me enamoré. Hahaha… saben, creo que debería preocuparme si comienzo a preferir casas lindas y chics en vez de chicos lindos y chics. Bueno… no es que haya visto alguno acá en Santo Tomé tampoco, lo cual hace que me replantee seriamente mis decisiones referentes a lugar de residencia. Claro que amo el Diseño y la Decoración y todo eso; el punto es… si eso podría transformarse en una especie de “estrategia de sublimación” o algo por el estilo. Los dejo con estos interiores diseñados por James Magni en lo que voy a meditar sobre algunos temillas….

{Decorating with paint}

Loved a post I read on Style at Home about decorating with paint. Sometimes making major decor changes can cause havoc on our budgets and affording certain whims can totally unbalance personal finances. So this option, just using paint and some coordination + good taste for the chosen chromatic palette seems perfect! You don’t leave aside design and spend little money. Quite a convincing equation!

Me encantó una nota que leí en Style at Home sobre decoración con pintura. A veces hacer cambios decorativos radicales puede causar estragos en nuestro presupuesto y darse el lujo con ciertos caprichos solo termina en un descalabro total de las finanzas personales. Así que esta opción que solo utiliza pintura y un poco de coordinación + buen gusto para seleccionar la paleta cromática resulta perfecta! No se resigna diseño y se gasta poco dinero. Vaya ecuación convincente!

Rambling Thoughts…

Guys… my patio’s “revamping” never ends! I’m all blisters and embedded chips. I swear I don’t want to cut a bamboo cane for a long long time. Thank God the shed’s roof and 2 fences are already done and the pool is on its way to be ready for… the last days of summer (great timing, no?). Next week I’m sharing pics, tips and budgets for those of you want to get crazy playing the gardener. For now, I’m off; I need some serious resting, maybe a shiatsu massage for my hurting back and definitely a manicure. Luv U!

Gente….el “revamping” de mi patio no se termina más! Soy toda ampollas y astillas incrustadas! Juro que no quiero cortar una caña de tacuara por un laaaargo tiempo. Gracias a Dios el techito del quincho y dos cercas ya están completos y la piscina va en camino de estar lista para…. los últimos días de verano (genial mi cronometraje, no?). La próxima semana comparto pics, tips y presupuetos para los que tengan ganas de volverse locos jugando al jardinero. Por ahora, me voy; necesito un buen descanso, tal vez un masaje shiatsu para mi dolorida espalda y definitivamente una manicure. Los quiero!

Also, the books are great. One is a compilation of Richard Serra sculptures, who is a major influence in the volumes of some of my collections. The other one you can't really see is a novel written by Françoise Gilot entitled Vivre Avec Picasso. And the tiny note book is a travel book given by my boyfriend who's a great artist.

{Playing the gardener…}

Remember when I told you there was not much to do here in Santo Tomé from 12:00 to 17:00? Well, thanks to that situation I discovered a new passion of mine: gardening!. It begun with a glimpse to the old neglected patio, the feeling that it had a lot of potential and … well… 5 hours with nothing to do during the day.

Se acuerdan cuando les dije que acá en Santo Tomé no había mucho que hacer de 12:00 a 17:00? Bueno, gracias a esa situación he descubierto una nueva pasión: la jardinería! Todo comenzó con un vistazo al viejo y abandonado patio, la certeza de que tenía mucho potencial y … bueno… 5 horas sin nada que hacer por día.

Maca “The Gardener”

I’ve never felt attracted to gardening before and look at me know, taking care of the grass, speaking to my plants and… doing a lot of DIY projects in my patio. Right now I’m all about bamboo for a little roof and fences and recovering the old pool. As I progress I’ll share more of it with you. For now… this is how I spend my siestas when I don’t run to the club looking for some refreshing splashdown.

Nunca antes me sentí atraída por la jardinería y mírenme ahora, cuidando el pasto, hablándole a las plantitas y … haciendo un montón de proyectos DIY en el patio. Ahora estoy a full con el techito y las cercas de tacuaras y recuperando la vieja piscina. En la medida que vaya progresando voy a compartirles más. Por el momento… así es como me paso la siesta cuando no huyo despavorida para el club en busca de un chapuzón refrescante.

All this gardening under a 40º sun kind of affects me and somehow I see myself this way…

Ehem… I have not forgotten what day is today…. In fact, believe it or not, today I feel kind of “humoresque” about the aforesaid date. Not like last year… that was catatonic! Hopefully next year I’ll be over all this corrosive shards kept as “souvenirs” from my last and epic romantic failure. Meanwhile… I salute all of you who display 2 hearts instead of eyes today and wish everyone… lo…lov…love. Said. I’m done for today. I’d better go renting Bridget Jones’s Diary and indulge myself with some of these….

Ehem… No me olvidé qué día es hoy…. De hecho, aunque no se pueda creer, hoy me siento un tanto “humoresque” respecto de la susodicha fecha. No como el año pasado… eso fue catatónico! Con suerte para el próximo año ya voy a haber superado todas estas esquirlas corrosivas que guardo a modo de “souvenirs” de mi último y épico fracaso amoroso. Mientras tanto…. saludo a todos los que hoy exhiben 2 corazones en vez de pupilas y deseo a todos… am…amo…amor. Lo he dicho. Listo por hoy. Lately I’m devouring all argentine Decó magazines. It’s pretty hard to find Architectural Digest but I’ve found comfort in D+D, Living, Elle Deco and… Para Ti. That’s a classic; it’s been around for more than 30 years and when it comes to interior design, there’s no better reflection of the argentine taste than that. Some examples? Check how Interior Designer Susana Villaverde and Architect Marcelo Gonzalez Orofino transformed a house of traditional lines into this glammy edgy and super chic abode…

Ultimamente me estoy devorando todas las revistas de Decoración argentinas. Es bastante difícil encontrar Architectural Digest pero he encontrado consuelo en D+D, Living, Elle Deco y … Para Ti. Un clásico; ha estado en circulación por más de 30 años y en lo referente a diseño de interiores, no hay mejor reflejo del gusto argentino que ella. Algunos ejemplos? Back to Decó!

Hello Crew! Long time out of blogging, no? Well, I’ve been super busy settling down in my new city, visiting family and friends in Posadas, preparing Max for the admission examination to his new school and getting used to living in the country, -literally- . You’ll see, weather here is like hell with lots of green around and nobody dears going outside during the siesta time. Would you with 40 degrees? So…. from 12:00 to 17:00 you can’t find a soul in town, everything closes! Hard, I know, and there’s nothing I can do about it except developing supernatural patience, getting extremely creative for finding things to do or in the worst scenario… taking a nap. But I like being here so far, Santo Tomé is a very cute little city in Corrientes, people are friendly and quiet and this kind of calm rural way of life is something completely new for me. I don’t mind driving myself “3 gears down” (for a while) and if things get too boring… guess what… the pleasure of living in border region: right in front of my new town and only 10 minutes far crossing the international bridge there’s…. BRAZIL!!! Yes, you’re right, I’ve already escaped there 2 times and I’ll post about it soon ‘cause it was fabulous! I have so many things to share with you! So stay tuned; we’ve officially retaken our regular Decó posts… and we’ll do it this way….

Hola Banda! Tanto tiempo sin bloggear, no? Bueno, estuve super ocupada instalándome en mi nueva ciudad, visitanto a mi familia y amigos en Posadas, preparando a Max para el examen de admisión a su nueva escuela y acostumbrándome a vivir en el campo, -literalmente-. Verán, la temperatura acá es como el infierno con mucho verde alrededor y a nadie se le ocurre salir durante la siesta. Lo harían ustedes con 40 grados? Así que… de 12:00 a 17:00 no hay un alma en la calle y todo está cerrado! Duro, lo sé, y no hay nada que pueda hacer al respecto excepto desarrollar una paciencia sobrenatural, volverme extremadamente creativa a la hora de encontrar cosas que hacer o en el peor escenario… dormir una siesta. Pero hasta ahora, me gusta estar acá, Santo Tomé es una pequeña ciudad preciosa en la provincia de Corrientes, la gente es tranquila y amigable y este estilo de vida rural y pacífico es algo completamente nuevo para mí. No me molesta “bajar 3 cambios” (por un tiempo) y si las cosas se ponen demasiado aburridas… adivinen qué… el placer de vivir en zona fronteriza: justo enfrente de ni nueva ciudad y a solo 10 minutos cruzando el puente internacional está… BRASIL!!! Si, están en lo cierto, ya me dí 2 escapadas y voy a postear sobre eso pronto porque estuvo fabuloso! Uff… tengo un montón de cosas que compartir con ustedes! Sigan sintonizados; oficialmente hemos retomado nuestros post Decó regulares… y lo haremos de esta manera…

Greetings from Argentina!

Guys! Hello! Hope you're super fine! I have so much to tell you that I think just one post won't be enough. Let me start by telling you that meeting my family again was excellent and both Max and I haven't stopped a minute since we arrived. From Buenos Aires, to Santo Tomé and then to Posadas and a lot of mini travels around the provinces of Misiones and Corrientes. I haven't properly settled down yet, Im living between two cities and it seems this new stage is going to be pretty interesting. Right now, I'm enjoying a well deserved vacation and getting in touch with all my clan and friends. But don't think I've forgotten you! I miss you in fact, and a lot! After one more week of marauding here and there I'll be back to our regular daily Decó posts. My best wishes to all of you and... as usual... tons of kisses and hugs! LUV U!

Gente! Hola! Espero que estén super bien! Tengo tantas cosas que contarles que creo que un solo post no va a ser suficiente. Para comenzar, les cuento que el reencuentro con mi familia fue excelente y tanto Max como Yo no hemos parado un minuto desde que llegamos. De Buenos Aires a Santo Tomé y luego a Posadas, sumados unos cuantos mini paseos por las provincias de Misiones y Corrientes. Todavía no me asenté de manera apropiada, estoy viviendo entre dos ciudades y al parecer esta nueva etapa se viene bastante interesante. Por ahora, sigo disfrutando de unas bien merecidas vacaciones y poniéndome al día con todo mi clan y amigos. Pero no crean que los he olvidado! De hecho, los extraño y mucho! Después de otra semana más de merodeo por aquí y por allá voy a volver a nuestros Decó posts diarios regulares. Mis mejores deseos para todos y... como siempre... toneladas de besos y abrazos! By the time you read this I’ll be on a “Boeing 747 Sled” heading to meet my family after 2 long years away. I can’t wait for the moment I see the snowy peaks of The Andes again, telling me I’m closer to home, have the sight of the endless green Pampas and land in my beautiful Argentina. But nothing will compare to walking trough the passengers arrival gates and running with my son Max to hug my Dad and our Family. That’s all I want for Christmas, feeling the love of my Family and the warm protection of my Home!

Para cuando lean esto, yo voy a estar arriba de un “Trineo Boeing 747” rumbo a encontrarme con mi familia después de dos largos años lejos. No puedo esperar a ver otra vez los nevados picos de Los Andes, diciendome que ya estoy cerca de casa, el verde infinito de las Pampas y aterrizar en mi preciosa Argentina. Pero nada se va a comparar con atravesar las puertas de arribo de pasajeros y correr junto con mi hijo Max a abrazar a mi Papá y a nuestra Familia. Eso es todo lo que quiero para Navidad, sentir el amor de mi Familia y la cálida protección de mi Hogar!

Up in the air… again!

So the day has finally arrived and I’m leaving Mexico and this stage of my life for good! I feel a mix of emotions, partly released of the heavy burden I’ve been carrying for the last two years and happy to go and partly bittersweet nostalgic. It wasn’t easy for Max or for Me to be totally alone so far from our country and family; there were times I cried a lot thinking about what I left behind and why I first came here and then to be close to what turned out to be a very disappointing -“love”- in the end. It’s true that you don’t know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have. Now I can smile while I agree moving my head, but it wasn’t always like that. Along the way God sent me two Angels I’ll love for the rest of my days, who’ve been with me since the very beginning, on the happiest moments and through the saddest parts of this lifetime experience: Erin Mc B. and Maria Von V. Thanks so much girls for being there and being the best friends I could have! I’ll miss you so much and always wish you the best ‘cause you are brave and kind women whom I’m proud to call Friends.

Entonces finalmente llegó el día y dejo México y esta etapa de mi vida detrás para siempre! Siento una mezcla de emociones, en parte liberada de la pesada carga que vine llevando los dos últimos años y felíz de partir y en parte una nostalgia agridulce. No fue fácil para Max ni para Mi estar totalmente solos tan lejos de nuestro país y de nuestra familia; hubo veces en las que lloré muchísimo pensando en lo que había dejado atrás y en el porqué vine aquí la primera vez y luego para estar cerca de lo que resultó un -“amor”- muy decepcionante al final. Es cierto que no sabemos cuán fuertes somos hasta que ser fuertes es la única opción que tenemos. Ahora puedo sonreir mientras asiento con un movimiento de cabeza, pero no siempre fue así. A lo largo del camino Dios me mandó a dos Angeles a los que voy a amar por el resto de mis días y que estuvieron a mi lado desde el comienzo, en los momentos más felices y a través de las partes más dolorosas de esta experiencia de vida: Erin Mc B. y Maria Von V. Mil gracias chicas por haber estado ahí y por haber sido las mejores amigas que pude tener! Las voy a extrañar muchísimo y siempre les voy a desear lo mejor porque son mujeres valientes y buenas a quienes me enorgullece llamar Amigas.

This has been a completely transforming experience, both for me and for Max who has matured far beyond what an 8 years old boy does. I’ll treasure everything I lived here forever, every place I visited, all the people I met, all the things I saw and learned about a different and fascinating culture. Even the worst experiences are going to be treasured, for they taught me what I’m capable of and helped me truly understand what’s essential and most valuable in life. My luggage won’t be much this time, I’m leaving so many stuff behind and I need to be practical facing a 24 hours flight ahead counting an endless scale in Panama City. Not to mention Max’s natural curiosity bouncing all over the place. I’m already visualizing both of us asleep in a comfy seat at Panama’s airport. But that doesn’t bother me; I’ve done it so many times during my life that I almost know which one’s the best seat for sleeping just by looking around any airport’s waiting area. I’ll make sure to have some yummy appetizers handy and not to lose Max’s Darth Vader’s mask or any other toy I’ll be carrying inevitably.

Esta ha sido una experiencia completamente transformadora, tanto para mí como para Max que ha madurado más allá de lo que un niño de 8 años hace. Voy a atesorar todo lo que viví acá para siempre, todos los lugares que visité, toda la gente que conocí, todas las cosas que ví y aprendí sobre esta cultura diferente y fascinante. Inclusive las peores experiencias van a ser atesoradas también, porque fueron las que me enseñaron de lo que soy capaz y me ayudaron a comprender verdaderamente qué es lo esencial y más valioso en la vida. Mi equipaje no va a ser mucho esta vez, dejo tantas cosas atrás y necesito ser práctica encarando un vuelo de 24 horas por delante contando una escala interminable en la Ciudad de Panamá. Sin mencionar la curiosidad natural de Max rebotando por todos lados. Ya nos estoy visualizando dormidos en un cómodo asiento del aeropuerto de Panamá. Pero eso no me molesta; lo he hecho tantas veces a lo largo de mi vida que ya casi sé cuál es el asiento más cómodo para dormir con solo echar un vistazo a cualquier sala de espera de aeropuerto. Voy a asegurarme de tener aperitivos ricos a mano y de no perder la máscara de Darth Vader de Max, o cualquier otro juguete que inevitablemente terminaré acarreando.

I don’t know what the future holds for me and I’ll have to start from zero once I get home. To be honest, that’s quite a cause of anxiety I try to remedy with my usual bizarre sense of humor. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to live this, to love, laugh, travel, to have my son by my side, sacrifice and work very hard, learn the most valuable lesson about life and for comforting me with strength and courage through the hardest moments. How can’t I love the Guadalupana if she protected both my kid and myself all these years? I even feel gratitude towards Quetzalcoatl and my beloved Tlaloc whose rain drops have always felt like blessing kisses for me. I pray for the things to come to be good and satisfying and hope from the bottom of my soul that the next stage will offer me the opportunity to help others with all that I’ve learned and to be happy. Thank you Mexico for all that you’ve given and taught me, your ancient Quetzal song will always have an echo in my heart. And that’s it, I’m ready and willing to take a taxi to the airport tonight and depart. A new story is about to begging and I’m looking forward to start living it!

No sé qué me depara el futuro y voy a tener que empezar desde cero una vez que llegue a casa. Para ser honesta, esa es una notoria causa de ansiedad que intento remediar con mi habitual sentido del humor bizarro. Le agradezco a Dios por haberme dado la oportunidad de vivir esto, de amar, reir, viajar, de tener a mi hijo a mi lado, sacrificarme y trabajar muy duro, aprender la lección más valiosa sobre la vida y por reconfortarme con fortaleza y valentía a través de los momentos más difíciles. Cómo no voy a amar a la Guadalupana si ella nos protegió tanto a mi niño como a mi durante todos estos años? Hasta siento gratitud hacia Quetzalcoatl y mi amado Tlaloc cuyas gotas de lluvia siempre han sido como besitos de bendiciones para mí. Rezo para que las cosas que vengan sean buenas y satisfactorias y espero desde el fondo del alma que la próxima etapa me ofrezca la oportunidad de ayudar a otros con todo lo que he aprendido y de ser felíz. Gracias México por todo lo que me has dado y enseñado, tu ancestral canción de Quetzal siempre va a hacer eco en mi corazón. Y eso es todo, ya estoy lista y deseosa de tomar el taxi al aeropuerto esta noche y despegar. Una nueva historia está por comenzar y busco con muchas ganas empezar a vivirla!

Winter’s coming…

My favorite season of the year… and I’m only going to enjoy it for 5 days before heading Summer down there in South America! I’m going to wear my entire winter’s wardrobe until Friday, well… at least try to… and I’ll spend my last week in México saying goodbye to all my beloved places of this City. Tsss… what can I tell you Mon Amis? It all ends in winter... like a snow storm anticipating a major change in my life.

Mi estación favorita del año… y solo la voy a disfrutar por 5 días antes de encaminarme hacia el Verano allá abajo en Sud América! Voy a ponerme mi guardarropas de invierno completo hasta el Viernes… bueno…al menos intentarlo… y voy a pasar mi última semana en México diciendole adiós a todos mis lugares amados de esta Ciudad. Tsss.. qué puedo decirles Mon Amis? Todo se termina en Invierno… como una tormenta de nieve anticipando un cambio enorme en mi vida.

La rue assourdissante autour de moi hurlait. Longue, mince, en gran deuil, douleur majestueuse, une femme passa, d’une main fastueuse soulevant, balançant le feston et l’ourlet;
agile et noble, avec sa jambe de statue. Moi, je buvais, crispé comme un extravagant, dans son oeil, ciel livide où germe l’ouragan, la douceur qui fascine et le plaisir qui tue.
Un éclair… puis la nuit! –Fugitive beauté dont le regard m’a fait soudainement renaître, ne te verrais-je plus que dans l’eternité?

The Man who became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity….

El hombre que se volvió loco con largos intervalos de horripilante cordura….

Definitely one of my favorite writers and the first one I read in English when I was a little girl. I still have that little book of short stories and from time to time I open it again, remembering how frightened I was reading the descent into the Maelström or imagining myself at Prince Prospero’s ballroom dance before the Red Death takes off her mask. True terror came some years later, with my discovery of H. P. Lovecraft and his “Sumerian Dudes”… but I leave that for some other post. This is a tribute to the father of Modern Terror Stories and… that amazing interior design featured in Rue showing Edgar Allan between two stags and facing a chandellier. Good scenario for a suspense tale, no ?

Definitivamente uno de mis escritores favoritos y el primero que leí en Inglés cuando era chica. Todavía tengo ese librito de relatos cortos y de tiempo en tiempo lo abro otra vez, acordándome de lo asustada que estaba al leer el descenso en el Maelström o imaginándome en el baile del Príncipe Prospero antes que la Muerte Roja se quitara la máscara. El verdadero terror vino algunos años después con mi descubrimiento de H. P. Lovecraft y sus “Compinches Sumerios”… pero eso lo dejo para otro post. Este es un tributo al padre de las Historias de Terror Modernas y a… ese increíble diseño de interiores publicado en Rue donde aparece Edgar Allan entre dos ciervos y enfrentando a un chandellier. Buen escenario para un relato de suspenso, no?

Daemonium Episode 1

A time ago I introduced you one of my best friends, the incredibly talented Fx Magician Simon Ratziel. Along with Dany Casco designing costumes and weapons, Pablo Parés in charge of the filming direction and a fabulous production team, Simon & Co. released yesterday the first episode of Daemonium, a 5 episodes feature film completely made in Argentina. This is the result of their work, done without any financial support of public or private institutions and totally dedicated to the fans of the terror genre. Get ready for this!

Hace un tiempo les presenté a uno de mis mejores amigos, el increíblemente talentoso Mago de los Fx Simon Ratziel. Junto con Dany Casco diseñando el vestuario y las armas, Pablo Parés a cargo de la Dirección del Film y un equipo de producción fabuloso, Simon & Co. presentaron ayer el primer episodio de Daemonium, un largometraje de 5 episodios completamente hecho en Argentina. Este es el resultado de su trabajo, realizado sin ninguna ayuda financiera de instituciones públicas o privadas y totalmente dedicado a los fans del género de terror. Prepárense para esto!

Lovely new week Mon Amis! Hope you’ve had a great weekend! I must tell you that the countdown for departing to Argentina (finally) has begun. I have only two weeks left in Mexico City so I’d like to say goodbye to this City well and that means… I won’t have that much time for blogging. I’ll leave some scheduled posts to keep you updated and pop-up around your blogs to say hi from time to time. Well, I’d better stop talking or I’ll get emotional (what I don’t want to). Let’s go to a beautiful Scandinavian abode I’ve spotted recently…

Adorable semana nueva Mon Amis! Espero que hayan pasado un findex genial! Debo decirles que la cuenta regresiva para partir hacia Argentina (finalmente) ha comenzado. Solo me quedan dos semanas en Mexico City y me gustaría despedirme bien de esta ciudad, lo que significa que… no voy a tener mucho tiempo para bloggear. Voy a dejar algunos posts programados para mantenerlos al día y me voy a dar una vueltita por sus blogs de vez en cuando para saludarlos. Twilight Sets: Isle Esme ♥

I told you, for me one of the best things of Breaking Dawn Part I… was watching Robert speaking in Portuguese… Aaaah beleza de Garoto! I loved all the scenes shot in Rio, Pattinson sambando com a galera and stuff. But wait a minute… I think the Brazilian beach house designed by the Architecture Firm Bernardes Jacobsen deserves a special feature too!!! You mix a dreamy man with a fabulous beach house and what do you get? Honeymoon on Isle Esme (or Paradise… hehe)

Ya les dije, para mí una de las mejores cosas de Breaking Dawn Part I… fue ver a Robert hablando en Portugues… Aaaah beleza de Garoto! Amé todas las escenas filmadas en Rio, Pattinson sambando com a galera y demás. Pero esperen un minuto… creo que la casa de playa Brasilera diseñada por la Firma de Arquitectos Bernardes Jacobsen se merece una publicación también!!! Se mezcla un hombre de ensueño con una casa fabulosa en la playa y qué se obtiene? Una Luna de Miel en Isle Esme (o el Paraíso…jeje)

Located in a paradisiac area near Paraty, the house designed by Thiago Bernardes of the renowned Bernardes Jacobsen Architecture Firm, has complete infrastructure, with comfort and privacy, in a 220 meters private beach. Additionally, it has exclusive access by boat or helicopter. Accommodations include 2 suites with king-size beds, 2 suites with 2 twin beds each, 2 suites with 3 twin beds each and independent living room. Among the house features are decks with 700 m2 & balcony with panoramic view, janitors, TV-DVD, audio system, telephone, full kitchen, laundry machine, dryer machine, electric power generator and beach accessories.

Localizada en un área paradisíaca cerca de Paraty, la casa diseñada por Thiago Bernardes de la renombrada Bernardes Jacobsen Architecture Firm, tiene infraestructura completa, con confort e intimidad en una playa privada de 220 metros. Adicionalmente, cuenta con acceso exclusivo por bote o helicóptero. Las facilidades incluyen 2 suites con camas king-size, 2 suites con 2 camas twin, 2 suites con 3 camas twin y living room independiente. Entre las características de la casa se encuentran decks de 700 m2 y balcones con vista panorámica, porteros, TV-DVD, sistemas de audio, teléfono, cocina completa, lavadero completo, generador eléctrico y accesorios de playa.

Richard Sherman, the film’s production Director, told Architectural Digest that finding the perfect house wasn’t easy: –“We looked at pictures and found a house we loved. But two days later we learned it was going to be blown up because it had been built illegally. The next morning I got on a plane to Brazil, hopped on a boat, and went through countless islands along the coastline south of Rio. It took us four weeks to finally find the Bernardes + Jacobsen house, which had a tropical modern interior and was located near Paraty on the coast that we liked”-.

Richard Sherman, el Director de Producción del film, le contó a Architectural Digest que encontrar la casa perfecta no fue nada fácil: –“Miramos fotos y encontramos una casa que amamos. Pero dos días después nos enteramos que la iban a volar porque había sido construída ilegalmente. A la mañana siguiente tomé un avión a Brasil, trepé a un bote y me fui a recorrer incontables islas a lo largo de la línea costera al sur de Rio. Nos tomó 4 semanas hasta dar finalmente con la casa Bernardes + Jacobsen, que tenía un interior tropical moderno y estaba situada cerca de Paraty sobre la costa que nos gustaba”-.

Robert Sherman also told A.D. they actually created their own exterior—what’s visible when you approach the house by boat— in the visual effects department. –“What you see of the real house is the front door, the steps leading up to it, the veranda, and all those glass doors. I loved the interior. We made a big open kitchen and living room. Some of the scenes that take place inside the house were actually shot on soundstages in Louisiana, where we created a courtyard, a bathroom, and the bedroom where Edward and Bella spend their wedding night. It was a seamless set—you really couldn’t tell the difference between the house and our stages”-

Robert Sherman también le dijo a A.D. que crearon sus propios exteriores –lo que es visible cuando se aproxima a la casa en bote- en el departamento de efectos visuales. .”Lo que se ve de la casa real es la puerta de entrada, los escalones que conducen a ella, el porche y todas las puertas de vidrio. Amé los interiores. Hicimos una cocina abierta grande y un living room. Algunas de las escenas que transcurren dentro de la casa fueron filmadas en platós de Louisiana, donde creamos un patio, un baño y el dormitorio donde Edward y Bella pasan su noche de bodas. Fue un set “sin costuras” – no se pueden decir las diferencias entre la casa y nuestros escenarios”-.

Sherman said that in some cases they really veered away from the book. –“What works well on the page doesn’t always work well on film. The location was challenging. Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the novels, set the honeymoon on an island in the middle of nowhere. Brazil is famous for its many islands down the coastline from Rio to Paraty. When you look out from the location where we shot, you don’t just see a horizon of water, as she wrote, but all these beautiful tropical islands. In the end it all worked out very well”-.

Sherman dijo que en algunos casos realmente variaron respecto del libro. –“Lo que funciona en las páginas no siempre lo hace bien en un film. La locación era desafiante. Stephenie Meyer, quién escribió los libros, dispuso la luna de miel en una isla en el medio de la nada. Brasil es famoso por sus muchas islas bajando por la línea costera desde Rio hasta Paraty. Cuando se mira desde la locación en la que filmábamos, no se ve simplemente un horizonte de agua, como ella escribió, sinó todas estas bonitas islas tropicales. Al final todo resultó muy bien”-.

There’s a Canadian blog I really like called The Zhush. Her Editor, Sue, runs a shop full of amazing products and… writes a brilliant section called: The Random Chanel Item. Sometimes her Chanel findings are super cute, other, they are really funny. So imagine my surprise when I discovered that The Coveteur followed Sue’s idea and featured a Year End Round Up of The Best Rare Chanel. Wou, that was heaven! Check it out!

Hay un blog Canadiense que me gusta mucho llamado The Zhush. Su Editora, Sue, maneja una tienda llena de productos bárbaros y… escribe una sección brillante llamada: The Random Chanel Item. A veces sus descubrimientos Chanel son super lindos, otras, realmente graciosos. Así que imagínense mi sorpresa cuando descubrí que The Coveteur siguió la idea de Sue y publicó su Year End Round Up of The Best Rare Chanel. Wou, eso fue el paraíso! No se lo pierdan!

Que no cunda el pánico! No voy a poner esa canción de Nine Inch Nails! Podría, jeje… pero es demasiado Martes para un disparo musical de semejante calibre. De lo que estoy hablando es de estos lindos, brillantes y super trendy cerditos capitalistas…

That according to the description provided by Areaware, the shop where you can buy them. Also, Areaware kindly informs us that they were cast from a pig died of natural causes. That is relevant product information!

No son liiiiiiindos? Me encantan! Diseñados por Harry Allen, estos cerditos pueden almacenar hasta U$S 10.000 en billetes. Eso de acuerdo a la descripción dada por Areaware, la tienda donde se los puede comprar. Además, Areaware nos informa gentilmente que fueron moldeados a partir de un cerdo fallecido por causas naturales. Eso es información de producto relevante!
